Description

The Peg Cobblers are nomadic shoe-smiths, planting their weedy namesake (Bidens pilosa) wherever they roam, to be harvested the next time they’re in the region. The plant’s leaves supply the fairies with regular salad greens, and the seeds can be ground down for a palatable coffee substitute.

They prefer to keep their own company, so as not to be distracted from their work, with one important exception. The Rhinoceros beetle (Dynastinae) is a common companion, and serves as a pack-mule, as an assistant during peak seasons, while its horn makes an excellent last (i.e. anvil) on which to hammer shoe soles, though the put-upon beetle often needs a good lie-down afterwards.

This may explain why the clumsy beetles are oft seen flying into things, later to be found dazed and upside down.

Environmentally friendly, ethical greeting cards for all occasions!

These fun and ofttimes whimsical cards are printed by Australian Trade Printers on high quality, 100% recycled Envirocare stock.

Our cards are A6 (105x148mm), and the backs include the character (or artwork’s) name, and in some cases, a brief story or description of the depicted flora and fauna, such as in the case of the Tawny frogmouth, or the fairy folk we’ve been creating over the years. Many of these feature the native (or invasive!) species we’ve come across in our wanderings and garden ventures.

We also source Australian-made, recycled paper envelopes. This means no plastics, no laminates, and no exploited labourers working in horrible conditions!

Send a greeting that won’t cost the earth, and support several small local businesses in the process.

Illustrations created by Damian Castellini, using traditional inks & watercolour, photoshop, or a combination of the aforementioned.
