Twiggy is a wooden toy belonging to the co-protagonist of our pro-spider children's book, "The Not-So-Scary Huntsman".
With its spring-nodding noggin' and bamboozling cuteness, this doll is built to last; individually handmade in our workshop from the most ethical materials we can get our hands on!
We turn each piece from locally sourced, sustainable timber (more on this at the end). The rope is cotton, the spring made in the USA, and the hair is wool, and easy to repair or replace. We want to encourage fair work practices and using sustainable materials wherever possible. The materials are non-toxic, the wood sanded smooth and conditioned with a beeswax butter we make ourselves. All items are made by us, packaged and posted with recyclable and/or recycled materials, so that our toys and books don't cost the Earth 🙂
There's a range of clothes available for Twiggy, sewn and embroidered by our local seamstress friend. They're pretty groovy.
*The timbers used are typically offcuts of Silky Oak (Grevillea robusta), a rot-resistant tree common in our region of Moreton Bay, Australia; Camphor Laurel (Cinnamomum camphora), an antibacterial, invasive species we source from our local sawyer; and Hoop Pine (Araucaria cunninghamii), an endemic and commercial plantation tree we buy from a local, family-operated sawmill.
P.S. If you live outside Australia and would like anything in our store, reach us at [email protected] and we'll work out the postal cost for you =)
