The Not-So-Scary Huntsman - Rhyming Picture Book

A bug-friendly, rhyming picture book independently created and printed in Australia.

A fun and meaningful tale, told in rhyme, of a girl and her misunderstood spider friend. 🤗🕷

The story follows young Phoebe, who upon moving house, meets a very big, very shy, Huntsman spider. With themes of overcoming old attitudes and co-existing with nature, our emotive characters portray insects and spiders in a kinder light. There's many a positive side to these misunderstood and vilified arachnids, and we hope to encourage wonder and respect with this picture book. After all, we’re considerably bigger and scarier than they are!

Set in Queensland, the book features over 36 illustrations inspired by our gardening and permaculture ventures. The story is told in rhyme, so as to help readers sound out unknown words that share common letters, and assists with early literacy development and phonemic awareness skills. It makes reading a bit more fun, too.

To top it off, these landscape, softcover books are printed in Australia, on sustainable, Envirocare paper! 🍃

We've also made our own toys to go with the book. All items are made by us, packaged and posted with recyclable and/or recycled materials, so that our books and toys don't cost the Earth 🙂
