The Tallowwood Elf A6 Greeting Card

Description

The Tallowwood Elf fashions itself ear extensions using the fallen leaves of its namesake, the Eucalyptus microcorys.

A skittish creature, little is known about these diminutive fairies. The example pictured was spotted during a chance encounter, caught unawares just long enough to provide the artist a moment’s clear view before darting off in a blur.

Though not uncommon, they’re fleet of foot, and easily mistaken for a mouse.

As such, it’s best to keep pets indoors, especially at night, and avoid putting down poisons in the garden, so as to not to inadvertently hurt these shy little beings.

Many of these feature the native (or invasive!) species we’ve come across in our wanderings and garden ventures.
